Prior to DEAG, he worked at Verescon AG, Red Bull GmbH, and AEG Worldwide Inc. Before that he was involved in the sporting goods industry with Converse and NFL Properties, amongst others.

Detlef was born in 1963, in Cuxhaven, Germany.
