John Meglen

John Meglen is a founding partner and president & co-CEO of Concerts West, a global touring division of AEG Presents, a worldwide leader in live entertainment.

A music industry veteran with nearly 40 years of experience, John co-founded Concerts West in September of 1998 with Paul Gongaware. The company was funded by AEG as its first step into the live music business. Recent tours include The Rolling Stones, Celine Dion, Roger Waters, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Chris Young, Brad Paisley and many more.

Meglen is credited with having changed the landscape of Las Vegas entertainment forever, when in 2003 Concerts West/AEG Live introduced the successful resident headliner model with Celine Dion’s show A New Day… at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Now in her second residency at the venue, Celine is still going strong with more than 1,000 performances and four million tickets sold to date. John continues to bring first-class entertainment to The Colosseum in Las Vegas including Bette Midler, Cher, and Rod Stewart, and is credited for securing Shania Twain’s return to the stage with her two-year residency in 2012.

Under Meglen’s direction, AEG Live became the exclusive promoter at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, re-launching the upgraded 4,255-seat venue in May 2009 with an all-star opening run of sold-out shows by Paul McCartney, The Killers, and Kenny Chesney. The same year saw the first rock residency debut at the Las Vegas venue with Carlos Santana’s successful two year run, leading the way for hit residencies with Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses, and Def Leppard.

John’s long-term approach to strategic business development in emerging markets continues in Asia, Australia, and Latin America. John’s vision to develop untapped markets and bring world-class entertainment to Asia led to the opening of what is now the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, and Damai Center in Dalian. Meglen and the AEG Presents Asia team have been successfully promoting artists throughout Asia, Australia, India, and the Middle East. The current and recent roster includes Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry, Celine Dion, Sam Smith, Metallica, and Muse. In 2016, Meglen was instrumental in producing The Rolling Stones’ first ever concert in Cuba.

Prior to Concerts West, Meglen served as the president and founder of Pace Touring, where he promoted tours by Fleetwood Mac and Michael Crawford, and the George Strait Country Music Festivals.  He also produced and promoted the successful 1997 and 1998 Ozzfest with Ozzy Osbourne, which has become an annual franchise. Pace was sold to SFX Entertainment in 1998.

From 1990 to 1996, John was director of touring for BCL Entertainment in Toronto where he launched tours for Pink Floyd, Paul Simon, David Bowie, and Nine Inch Nails, as well as the successful Rolling Stones’ Voodoo Lounge and Urban Jungle tours.

John started his music industry career in Seattle with more than a decade at Concerts West, Inc., the leading North American touring and management promotion company of the time.  Honing his renowned skills at Concerts West, Inc., John worked his way up to executive vice president of such tours as The Beach Boys, Bad Company, the Jackson’s, the Commodores, Three Dog Night, Warrant, The Moody Blues, John Denver, and Neil Diamond.

Performance Magazine named John Promoter of the Year in 1997 and in 2002 he received the legendary Bill Graham Award.

John lives with his family in Whitefish Montana.
