With mental health continuing to be a key topic in the business, ILMC is partnering with Music Industry Therapist Collective (MITC) in 2023 to run three dedicated taster workshops on this important subject.

On Wednesday, 1 March, Diversity x Mental Health x The Music Business will explore rates of mental ill health, symptom presentations and more for different demographic groups and will offer strategies for promoting psychological safety in the workplace for people of colour, women, and those who identify as LGBTIQ+.

Then on Thursday, 2 March, Burnouts, Breakdowns & Healthy Touring will discuss which parts of touring can exacerbate or contribute to mental health problems, who is most at risk, and will finish by presenting some strategies you can implement to improve living and working conditions.

Also on Thursday, Crisis Response & Holding Conversations about Mental Health will examine what you should do if someone nearby is experiencing a mental health crisis, how to recognise the signs that someone’s mental health has deteriorated, and how to react.

MITC’s landmark book, Touring & Mental Health: The Music Industry Manual provides expert advice for all those affected by the psychological, social, and physical difficulties that can occur on the road or as a result of touring. It will be published by Omnibus Press on 23 March 2023.
